Shericka Jackson Kicks Off Season with Impressive Win at JAAA All Comers Meet

Jamaica's track sensation, Shericka Jackson, made a triumphant return to competition at the recent JAAA All Comers Meet held at the National Stadium in Kingston. After withdrawing from several earlier meets, Jackson stormed back with an outstanding victory in the women's 100m event, reaffirming her status as one of the world's top sprinters.

In her highly anticipated season opener, Jackson blazed to victory in the 100m, crossing the line in a lightning-fast time of 11.03 seconds. Her performance not only secured her the win but also sent a powerful message about her form and readiness as she gears up for an Olympic year.

The race witnessed fierce competition, with Tina Clayton taking second place with a time of 11.20 seconds, closely followed by Krystal Sloley in third with a time of 11.25 seconds.

On the men's side, Julian Forte stole the spotlight with an exceptional performance in the 100m dash, clocking an impressive time of 10.07 seconds to claim the title of the fastest Jamaican this year. Earl Simmons and Jazeel Murphy rounded out the podium with times of 10.15 seconds and 10.20 seconds, respectively.

Murphy continued to shine in the 200m event, dominating the field with a winning time of 20.67 seconds. Ashanie Smith and Michael Sharp secured second and third places, respectively, with times of 20.93 seconds and 21.09 seconds.

Other notable performances included former national record holder Janeek Brown's display of talent in the 100m hurdles, posting a time of 13.15 seconds, and Orlando Bennett's victory in the men's 110m hurdles with a commendable time of 13.67 seconds.

Traves Smikle showcased his prowess in the men's discus event, throwing an impressive 66.03m to claim first place, followed by Chad Wright and Tio-Josh Mowatt in second and third places, respectively.

Shericka Jackson's stellar performance at the JAAA All Comers Meet marks a promising start to her 2024 competitive season. As the first of Jamaica's 'Big 3' to kick off her season, Jackson's near-sub-11s run in the 100m demonstrates her excellent form and readiness to tackle the challenges of an Olympic year.
