Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, multiple Olympic and world champion, kicked off her season at the JAAA Olympic French Foray III meet at the National Stadium on Saturday. The 37-year-old sprinter, who had announced her plans to retire after the Paris Olympics to spend more time with her family, competed in the 100 meters at 10:05 pm.
This was Fraser-Pryce’s first race since the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, nearly 10 months ago, and it came 12 days before Jamaica’s Olympic trials, scheduled for June 27-30.
Joining her in the women’s 100 meters were Shashalee Forbes, Ashanti Moore, Jodean Williams, Jura Levy, and juniors Sabrina Dockery from Lacovia High and Shanoya Douglas from Muschett High School.
